Diagnostic tests include smoke tests, which identify air leaks or infiltrations in the building envelope, and spray tests, which identify water infiltrations in the envelope. 

Partie 5 professionals perform smoke tests in accordance with ASTM E1186-22 – Standard Practice for Air Leakage Site Detection in Building Envelopes and Air Barrier Systems, and spray tests in accordance with AAMA 501.2 – Quality Assurance and Water Field Check of Installed Storefronts, Curtain Walls, and Sloped Glazing Systems.
